Jayde Riviere
Athletics Award
Jayde Riviere won gold with Canada during her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 where she was the second youngest member of the team. She played full time during Canada’s preliminary round matches against Chile and Great Britain and saw action as a substitute in the quarterfinal and final.
Riviere made her debut with the senior national team in a series of friendlies in 2017 and 2018 before being named to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad at just 18 years old. She appeared in three games for Canada in France, starting one. She scored her first goal with the senior team at the 2020 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying tournament, helping Canada finish second to secure their spot at Tokyo 2020. In 2021, Riviere played for the Canadian team at the inaugural SheBelieves Cup, helping Canada finish third.
Riviere dislocated her knee during her international debut at the 2016 U17 CONCACAF Championships and had to watch from the side as Canada won bronze. She was fit to join the team for the U17 FIFA World Cup later that year, appearing in two games, and also won a silver medal with the U15 team at the CONCACAF Championship.
