Keith Merith

Keith Merith is a 31-year veteran of the York Regional Police Service (YRP). Now retired, Keith exemplified excellence in policing, community safety and decency. He retired at the rank of Superintendent, holding an unprecedented dual portfolio overseeing Information Services and Court Services. During his previous rank as Inspector, Keith was in Corporate Development as the Officer-in-Charge of Professional Development, which included Staff Development and Recruiting.  Keith’s was the first YRP officer to be seconded to two high schools teaching race relations, police and youth perceptions and law-related course. He is an excellent keynote speaker and a community- thought-leader who collaborates to build credible and sustainable relationships; mentoring others towards achieving their goals.  Two-term president of the Association of Black Law Enforcers (A.B.L.E.), Keith improved all aspects of the organization; especially its relevance. Also, he co-founded the Citizenship Initiative Group (CIG) – An important organization that assists permanent residents who are in good standing to apply for and receive Canadian Citizenship.  His core values are based on respect, courtesy, professionalism, and decency.
